Reviews are a funny thing. Everyone has a different opinion. Some are expressed professionally, regardless of what the reader thinks of a book, and some aren't. The ones that aren't are often very hard on authors who have worked so long to create something they are so proud of. So this morning, I received my first non-Goodreads/non-book blogger review, and my heart beat in my chest like a gorilla in a cage. With so many different takes on my book out there already, I felt a bit anxious to open the link. But thankfully, this one was worth the moment of angst.
